iHome iP90 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPod and iPhone (Black) Reviews
My previous iHome (owned for over 5 years) essentially died, so I thought it was time to upgrade. I saw some reviews of sketchy quality, so I was worried (and bought a SquareTrade warranty...) but I have to say, after a month, I'm thrilled with my purchase.br /br /br /The Good:br /Great feature set (gentle wake, multiple level dimming, wake to playlist [my favorite feature, and one that makes it worth owning])br /Good sound quality for a mid-sized unit -- I don't have to turn the bass all the way upbr /Auto-set time and date from your iPhone / iPodbr /br /The Bad:br /Set-up instructions are not clear, and a few buttons are not intuitivebr /Volume level varies a lot depending on source (Radio is much louder than iPhone, even when the iPhone's volume is all the way up)br /The buzzer that defaults if your iPhone / iPod is not present is way too soft... I'm sure I'd sleep through it (even on loudest volume)br /Buttons are a little hard to understand in the morning when you're trying to reset the alarm (and not snooze).br /I wish is were just a bit smaller. It almost doesn't fit on my (pretty tiny) nightstand.br /br /I know I have more "bad"s than "good"s, but they're mostly nits. Overall, the unit does a great job. The sound quality is really good. The "wake to playlist" is awesome. I can wake up to a random selection (shuffle works!) of very nice, light classical music even if I had been listening to alternative rock or a podcast the night before. The dual alarm is full-featured; you can set each alarm to go off every day, during the week, or on the weekend.br /Some people complain that the gentle wake isn't gentle enough. It gets to full volume in probably 20 seconds, which is slow enough for me. br /Others complain about the display dimmer. It certainly gets plenty dim such that I can have it a foot from my face and not notice too much light. If you have to have it pitch black, and want to turn off the display at night, I could see how pushing the snooze button a bunch of times to go from brightest to dimmest to off would be annoying, but for anyone who can stand to have just a little light, you just set it and forget it. No problems reading the very bold time display. I hope nothing breaks, as it's nearly the perfect nightstand alarm. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it as a clock radio for a large or loud room though.

iPod Dock NOT an Alarm Clock - Anonymous -
I was very pleased with this unit when I brought it home and cranked up the volume on my iPod. I am by no means a sound expert but for 1/4th of the price of my Bose Sound Dock I couldn't complain. I wouldn't say it's as nice, but to a non-sound guy like myself it is close. I was a little concerned when I had some difficulties understanding the alarm. Then this morning at 0530 when I was trying to turn off the first alarm BEFORE it went off and couldn't I got pissed and decided to write this review. br /br /As far as I am concerned THIS IS NOT AN ALARM CLOCK!!!! This is an iPod dock that has an alarm clock feature and here is why (in my opinion):br /br /1. The dock has 6 different levels of brightness. Nice right? WRONG! Even at the lowest level it's still like a flashlight shinning a beam of light in your eyes. So much so that I have to turn the unit (so I can no longer read the display) so the light doesn't shine in my face when sleeping. When compared to the Alarm Clock we have on the other side of the room it's significantly brighter. The entire display is backlit as opposed to just the numbers which is why there is a difference in brightness. br /br /2. I just re-read the instructions and there is no identifiable way to turn off an alarm (once it is turned on) unless the alarm is actually going off. You have the option of changing it from (7days, Weekdays, or weekends) so you can pick Weekend during the Weekdays in order to turn it off but seriously who makes an alarm clock that you can't EASILY disable the alarm. You use alarm clocks about two seconds after getting up, they shouldn't have small recessed buttons that are hard to push and that you can't see because there is a beam of light in your face. br /br /3. Buttons - As previously mentioned they are recessed and NOT backlit which creates a sleek looking unit, but hard to navigate in "dark." Also when pressed they make a loud hollow clicking noise. Good luck trying to turn the thing off without waking whomever is sleeping in the same room as you. br /br /Ultimately this dock will be coming off my nightstand and into my workshop where it's bright display can be seen from across the room and the sound will reach just as far.
